Career
Francesco Marconi was the artificial intelligence co-lead at the Associated Press responsible for news automation. In 2018, The Wall Street Journal appointed Marconi as R&D Chief to launch an editorial lab focused on artificial intelligence.
While at the Wall Street Journal, Marconi establish a digital forensics committee to train journalists to verify DeepFakes, launched algorithmic transparency investigations, and developed a machine learning application that generated custom hedcut portraits.
Entrepreneurship
In 2020, Francesco Marconi founded Applied XL, a venture backed information company.
